The Story Behind the Serenity Seeker Planner
Hi, I’m Janice MacKay—creator of the Serenity Seeker Planner, proud owner of Simplicity Planners, and super mom to three amazing boys, two dogs, four cats, one horse and a wonderful husband. Life in our home is busy, joyful, and often a little chaotic, which means staying organized isn’t just helpful—it’s essential.
Over the years, I’ve tried so many different planners, but none of them quite fit what I needed. I’m a paper-and-pen person at heart. Writing things down helps me stay grounded and makes it easier to find what I need later. I wanted a planner that could hold everything—from daily habits and goals to birthdays, expenses, and reflections—all in one beautiful and functional space. When I couldn’t find one that checked all the boxes, I decided to create it myself.
The Serenity Seeker Planner was born out of both necessity and healing. The past few years have brought their share of challenges and stress, including the heartbreaking loss of my dad on July 19, 2023. That experience reminded me how important it is to slow down, breathe, and find calm within the chaos. As I looked ahead, I wanted 2027 to be a year with less stress and more serenity. That’s how the name came to be—a reflection of my journey to find peace through organization, reflection, and mindfulness.
This planner was designed with intention, care, and a touch of heart. Each Serenity Seeker set includes:

- A Shopping Notepad for quick lists
- A wet erase marker and matching planner pen
- A rose gold paper clip
- And a movable running tasks divider so you can easily shift your priorities week to week.
Inside, you’ll find yearly overviews for 2026, 2027, and 2028, monthly calendars, and two-page weekly spreads that keep everything in one section—no flipping back and forth. The weekly pages feature appointment spaces, to-do lists, a braindump section, a habit tracker, and even an “As You Wish” area for whatever fits your life best. You’ll also find uplifting quotes and a word of the week to spark reflection and growth (definitions included at the back!).
I’ve included moon phases and holidays in both the monthly and weekly spreads after realizing how meaningful those small details can be—especially when tracking our beloved dog’s health patterns. Each month closes with an expense tracker, notes page, and monthly reflection section to help you look back and plan ahead with purpose.
And because I can’t resist a good system, you’ll also find pages for birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions, passwords, contacts, goal-setting, and vision boards to help you dream big and stay on track.
The Serenity Seeker Planner is more than just a tool—it’s a companion to help you find calm, clarity, and joy in the everyday. My hope is that it brings you the same sense of peace and organization it’s brought to me.
